“If we sip the wine, we find dreams coming upon us out of the imminent night”
“Independent wines for independent people”
Welcome to TFW Fine Wines
A small, independent, wine merchant, based in North Norfolk.
In our quest to find something a little different & unique, the wines are sourced from small growers & producers. Often, from lesser-known, up & coming wine regions. Although we started with the French ‘classics’ we now source wines from all over the world. We like to know the provenance of the wine, so it is important to meet the grower or producer at the professional wine tastings & build up a rapport with them. By remaining independent we have total control over vintage selection. Being in this fortunate position, we are totally uncommitted to any chateaux etc & therefore not obliged to purchase inferior vintages. We aim for consistency with all of our wines and therefore, many have now become the backbone of our wine list.
The importance of international growing & production standards are paramount in our wine selection. With minimal overheads, TFW Fine Wines can offer quality wines & good prices. Wines can be sourced from all over the world & that all important, favourite wine, can be tracked down. It is a romantic idea & it would be lovely to travel from ‘vineyard to vineyard’ but the reality of it is not justifiable so we meet the producers & growers at the professional tastings in London. For example there may be a tasting where, all the small producers from a particular wine region, will congregate, to show their wines from the new vintage & the specific region ie wines from the Rhone region in France. We get terribly excited when we find a real ‘gem’ of a wine. Good quality, well-balanced & well-made, at a sensible price.
New season brings some delicious wines
TFW Fine Wines Autumn & Winter wine list is now available for you to peruse. Just click on the button on the left.
Some exciting new wines have been found & tasted; the Australian ‘Johnny Q’ Chardonnay & Shiraz, two new Chilean wines; Santa Alba Merlot & Sauvignon Blanc. Plus a delicious, smooth Malbec from Argentina. Chateau Grand Bert, St Emilion Grand Cru, is listed with much excitement…not just because of the name of my dog ‘Bertie’) this is a fine wine. A real treat!
The firm favourites, which remain bestsellers & the backbone of our list, still feature. They are consistent with each vintage. With minimal overheads (no wine shop etc) the wines continue to be competitively priced. Hopefully, there is something on the list to suite your palate…
Not all wines can be listed but if you have a favourite, we will endeavour to source it for you.
‘The Romance of the Cork’
To cork or not to cork? That is the question. Corks are hugely beneficial to wines to be aged or with longevity but for fresh, everyday, drinking wines the screw cap will suffice.
